The middle, medieval scene dramatises the last age of rape and plunder (have things changed much, or just become more sophisticated ?)  One poet has commented :

'Now, a very great man once said
That some people rob you with a fountain pen.
It didn't take too long to find out
Just what he was talking about.'

Sometimes it's not so sophisticated, not so subtle, and sometimes it's not even entirely out of sight, getting reckless.
