India, Mother of Religions, also Expects the Messiah for the New Age In India the Hindus expect Kalkin, tenth Incarnation of the God Vishnu or Lord Kirshna, on a white horse to initiate a new aeon. Kalkin is the Hindu version of Christ Returned. Not because in Revelation (19.11) the Aquarian Messiah also arrives on a white horse but because the ideas are so similar.

The fact that Kalkin is supposed to arrive only after many aeons should not be taken too literally - spiritual figures always tend to be inflated and deliberately distracting. Taken literally these figures don’t make much sense.

It is quite possible this idea is copied from the Essene sages or the early Christian fathers. It is quite possible the idea of Christ’s reincarnation for the new age so forcibly impressed the Hindu sages they adopted it for themselves, recognising that in the next age the Christian Messiah would have worldwide status, authority. Accepting we all worship only One God and in the third millennium one Messiah and one message would do.

It is quite possible since this prophecy of Kalkin seems to emerge only after the Christian prophecy of the Second Coming, as Romila Thapar, India’s pre-eminent historian has noted, herself suggesting a connection.(History of India, vol.1.) The rest of the Hindu gods were rather earlier.

This process of copying, adopting others’ insights, religious exchanges, is familiar enough to be graced with the name of syncretism. The recognition of this process, this philosophy, among the ancient sages is one of the central themes of Heaven on Earth. This evidence naturally suggests we might try a similar wisdom for the future of faith in our shrinking, divided world. Should we wait and see what Kalkin says ? Will he prefer religious nationalism ? Looking to the past ? or to the future ?

(This note carries the colours of the Aquarian element of air. On page 16 the Aquarian Messiah is identified with the Beast 666 in the colours of Beauty, the colours of the Sun. The Sun is, after all, the closest star in the Aquarian heavens. Here a different facet of his character is recognised, as different facets are portrayed in Revelation.)
