Ammon, Supreme in Egypt's New Kingdom

One head for thought, another for feeling, one for action and one for a bit of sense – the four elements : Ammon with his rams’ heads is as strangely faced and inscrutable as the Indian Ganesh, here portrayed dancing.  Jupiter, the Greek Zeus, was always the ‘Friend of Strangers’.  Sagittarius, Jupiter’s Sign at Mercy, is the traveller’s Sign.   Familiar with strange sights.   The Ram’s head probably signifies his reign over the age of Aries, the Ram, before the age of Pisces, the age just past.
